The next morning (Saturday) we headed north on the bitumen
and set up at a free-stay just south of the NT border. We had enough power to
watch a family movie in the tent that night. On Sunday we crossed the border
and headed west past Mt Connor and on to Uluru.

Uluru would have to be the highlight so far. Words have
trouble describing just how amazing it is.
On Monday we all attempted to climb Uluru. The local aborigines
prefer that nobody climbs it, so it wasn’t really the right thing to do. But we
have to admit we did enjoy it, and every one made it to the top unaided – even 4
yr old (nearly 5) Bronte (to our surprise).

On Tuesday we did a ranger guided walk around part of the base.
It was really informative and explained a lot of local aboriginal customs and
beliefs, while helping us to really appreciate aboriginal culture a lot
more.
On Wednesday we had a lazy day (apart from Jim jogging around the base of Uluru) until mid-afternoon when we walked through part of the Olgas, followed by sunset viewing at the Olgas.

Tomorrow we head off to Kings Canyon and the West MacDonald Ranges. We have stocked up on chips, soft drink and lollies for Bronte's birthday on Saturday.
